Join Metanomics on Monday, November 17 at Noon when host Robert Bloomfield welcomes Jon Brouchoud of Crescendo Design and Studio Wikitecture. The October 2008 issue of Architectural Record -- one of the world's foremost publications on architecture-- featured Brouchoud and colleague Ryan Schultz for their pioneering work in Second Life®. Jon writes the virtual world blog, The Arch. Kirsten Kiser will be On the Spot to talk about her recent work with architect Frank Gehry, and her efforts to bring architects to virtual worlds through her influential online architectural magazine, arcspace.


Jon Brouchoud (Keystone Bouchard in Second Life) is a freelance virtual architect and founder of Crescendo Design, a studio specialized in creating innovative, cost effective architecture and strategies for virtual reality platforms such as Second Life and OpenSIM. Jon’s work as an evangelist for virtual architecture has focused on the convergence of architecture, virtual worlds and augmented reality. He has collaborated on a wide range of virtual reality projects while working as Clear Ink’s 3D Experience Architect, including the U.S. House of Representatives, Autodesk Island, Linden Lab Headquarters, TED Island and more. He has also helped coordinate Second Life events for Cameron Sinclair (Habitat for Humanity) Sergio Palleroni (University of Texas School of Architecture), Chris Luebkeman (ARUP), Phil Bernstein (VP Autodesk), Carl Bass, (Autodesk CEO), John Gage (VP Sun Microsystems), and U.S. Congressman George Miller.

He is author of ‘The Arch’ blog ( http://www.archsl.wordpress.com ), founder of Architecture Islands, an incubator for architects and designers in virtual worlds, and also leads the Architecture in Second Life community group. He is co-founder of Studio Wikitecture, a Web 2.0 based architectural collaboration methodology. His ‘Nutrihouse’ design was chosen for construction in the Cradle-to-Cradle Home competition from over 625 entries worldwide. He also won 3rd place for his entry in the Tuscon Gateway International Design Competition. Jon has a Master of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
