Non posso più imparare nulla...non sono owner, risulto solo donatore e non posseggo nessuna terra, quali permessi posso avere se sono così newbie?..nessuno mi affiderà nulla!!.

Allora ho pensato di acquistare qualche piccola parcel...ma non sono esperta e poi preferisco aspettare dicembre e, magari, non caricare altro denaro ma sfruttare gli stipendi...1200 L$ al mese(il mio account è dimezzato e ci sono circa 5000L$)..beh bastano per le tasse ma non per l'investimento iniziale..beh suvvia si gioca no? Altrimenti non s'impara molto dell'economia di SL.

L'importante è non farsi prendere dal meccanismo.
Piccole cifre, grande volontà di imparare...funzionerà?

Allora vado su "auction land" con scadenza oggi e cerco qcs di facile per iniziare, in previsione di un pezzetto tutto mio tipo sandbox privata o posto per posare i piedini ed imparare le funzioni dell'owner.

Provo con poco:le terre più economiche sono le PG in mainland. Ottimo: concordo con PG e ne sono addirittura entusiasta.

Prima parcel adocchiata a 3.850 L$ in PG: faccio il bid, non mi teleporto neanche, ed infatti per due volte appena incremnetato di 10 L$ il massimo, mi vedo immediatamente scavalcata da un altro winner (tutti anonimi?)...c'è qualcosa che non va, meglio non insistere.

Cambio zona: snow land e sempre Pg a 4200L$: questa non la vuole proprio nessuno...magari riesco a farmela assegnare.
Questa volta mi teleporto ed osservo con la camera control, che ora funziona benissimo col nuovissimo pc portatile e la nuova versione, (mi sembra di essere una nuova Eleonora..un po' meno imbranata!).Chissà! per ora sono winner...ma ci credo poco.

The upfront costs of private island snow land are usually cheaper than mainland snow land (though not always) and you don't need a premium account. So why buy mainland snow you may be asking yourself? Well:

*No Covenants - No need to get permission from someone else to do what you want with the land you have purchased.
*Lower Tiers - Despite needing a premium account, tiers on the mainland are lower than what you'll usually find on the private islands. This is explained in detail below.
*Easier Resale - It may be hard to think about now, but at some point in the future you'll want to resell. It will be a lot easier to do on the mainland, especially once the holiday season is over. More on this below.
*Peace of Mind - While most private island owners are well meaning, problems can and do occur that could endanger your investment. You just never know with private islands. The only way your mainland investment could be endangered is if Linden Lab itself goes under. Unlikely to happen and if it did private islands would also be in trouble.


-LOWER TIERS-

Let's take for example a 4,096sq.m. snow parcel, one from the mainland and one from a private island estate:

*Mainland*
$5 - Premium Account ($9.95 minus stipend estimate)
$25 - 4,096sq.m. Tier Level

$30 - Total Tier costs per month

*Private Island*
L$2,100 ($8.90 USD) - Weekly Tier
x 4.35 (number of weeks per month)

L$9,135 ($38.70 USD) - Monthy Tier

As the example demonstrates, you'll be paying over $8 USD less in tier per month on the mainland. These savings will add up over time.


-EASIER RESALE-

At some point you'll want to resell your snow parcel. Probably some time after the holidays are over. The problem is, everyone else will have the same idea. Supply will far outstrip demand come spring. This will lower prices of mainland and private island snow land.

Fortunantely, if you reselling mainland snow land, you have a key advantage. Mainland snow is versatile and can be used for many purposes other than for those that fit the theme. It can be used for houses, parks, stores, clubs, private sandboxes, skyboxes, ect. This means a buyer can always be found for a decent baseline price.

Private island snow land is not versatile. Consider this: who will want strictly residential private island snow land with high tier come around April? No one will, that's who. So anyone with this type of land will be forced to keep paying tier week after week or most likely abandon the land for L$0.

Look, you're probably going to take a loss when buying snow land in November and selling it in April. But if you want a small loss instead of a total wipeout, buy mainland snow.

Join us for GridTalk on Tuesday when our subject will be Cisco Systems' upcoming Virtual Career Fair, with guests Christian Renaud, the company's chief architect for networked virtual environments, and Randy Sisk, new markets and technologies scout for the company. Cisco is a pioneer in using Second Life and other virtual worlds for business, so we'll also spend some time discussing the broader issues of commercial activities in virtual worlds.
The career fair is for European engineers, designed to provide a virtual forum for companies to meet and network with IT candidates.
